All The Fun of the Fête

This summer, Gorselands hosted another fantastic fête – possibly our best one yet! Themed around Alice in Wonderland and hosted in our lush green garden, it certainly lived up to its promise of being a magical afternoon.

There was a Mad Hatter’s tea party in the dining room, a cake sale (featuring plenty of enticing-looking cupcakes and sponges) craft stalls in the garden as well as children’s games, a raffle, tombola and lottery. There was also live music to set the tone and an ice cream van parked on our driveway, for anyone wanting a Mr Whippy.

Of course, all our residents were there, and plenty of staff too – including Suzy (dressed as the Queen of Hearts), Eileen (making for a fantastic Mad Hatter) and Jodie (dressed as Alice in Wonderland herself). We had a great turnout from the friends of Gorselands, the families of our residents and the locals of Burley, who despite the slightly temperamental weather came to enjoy an unforgettable afternoon with us.

All in all, our fête was a wonderful success and we raised a good sum of money which will be put towards future day trips and adventures out in the minibus for our Gorselands residents. We certainly enjoyed ourselves and hope that everyone who attended had just as good a time as we did. It seems with the success of this year’s event, we’ve certainly set the bar high for next year!
