The Gorselands Commitment to Training on the Job

At Gorselands, we’ve always been big advocates for training on the job. Why? Because it’s such a great way to gain new skills and knowledge alongside practical experience in the workplace.

Whether it’s our talented team of existing employees, or anyone new that joins the Gorselands family, they can be sure of a workplace culture that encourages personal growth and constant learning. It’s our mission to continuously upskill our employees, allowing everyone the opportunity to grow, as well as providing a better chance for career progression in the future too.

There are a few practical ways we encourage training on the job – and one of those is through apprenticeships. Staff can enrol in 12 or 18 month long courses (some of which even come with City & Guilds accreditation) which focus on healthcare or adult learning and come in a variety of different levels. These courses provide the essential skills needed to thrive in a care home workplace just like ours.

We’re especially keen on these types of courses as they allow our employees to get real-world experience while they train, take on new skills to help them progress within our organisation – and all while earning a wage as well. From our perspective, as the Gorselands management, it also helps us to get the full potential from each and every staff member, with team members who feel more capable, experienced and valued. It’s pretty much a win-win for everyone.

This commitment to learning and development has already led to some noticeable effects on our staff members and their confidence in the workplace. It’s also one of the reasons we have such a strong team at Gorselands, and why the care we provide has been rated so highly by agencies, inspectors and of course the family and friends of our wonderful residents.

Whether you’re a job applicant, a new joiner or a well-established member of the Gorselands family, if you’d like to find out more about the opportunities we can offer for on the job training please don’t hesitate to get in contact, either by emailing info@gorselandsnursinghome.co.uk or calling us on 01425 402 316
